Personnel:
Geof Bradfield--tenor sax
Greg Ward--alto sax
Dave Miller--guitar
Hyosub Kim--bass
Ted Sirota--drums
Ted Sirota's Rebel Souls strive to use their music as a weapon in the battle against oppression and reactionaries worldwide, and not merely as "art for art's sake". On their latest CD, "Breeding Resistance", the band tackles the timely issues of oppression and resistance through their art. Various compositions pay tribute to fallen revolutionaries, expose current tyrants, and express hope for future generations.
Rebel Souls have been featured and/or reviewed favorably in many publications including the London Times, New York Times, Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Tribune, Downbeat, Jazz Times, Jazziz, The Wire, Cadence, Sterophile and many others.
"Ted Sirota has put together a band that includes some of the better young musicians in Chicago who can play on both sides of the inside and outside split in jazz aesthetics..."-The New York Times
Personnel:
Dave Miller--guitar
Hyosub Kim--bass
John Smillie--drums
The Dave Miller Trio explores the beauty and subtelties of the Great
American Songbook. Whether performing the classic songs of Irving
Berlin and Cole Porter or the modern compositions of Thelonious Monk and
Wayne Shorter, the trio comtributes their own personal approach to every
tune they play. Among these three like-minded musicians, musical
interaction is valued above all else, resulting in a lasting and rewarding
musical experience for both musician and listener alike.
All three musicians have performed or recorded with many of the great
jazz musicians in Chicago and are all focused on continually honing their
craft.
Personnel:
James Davis--trumpet
Caroline Davis--alto saxophone
Dave Miller--guitar/effects
Matthew Golombisky--bass/likeable noise
Quin Kirchner--drums
This band was originally assembled for a gig on one of the band member's
birthday on May 22, 2006. Some of the music that night was composed beforehand,
and some was not. Much fun was had that first night, and more performance
opportunities arose.
Caroline and James hail from Tx. Yee-haw.
Matthew and Quin pretty recently fled a certain big storm in New Orleans.
It sucked. But now they're here. Yay.
Dave Miller is a force of nature. Beware.

The davemillergroup specializes in funky jazz rooted in the tradition of classic groups like The Meters and the JB's and open to the new explorations of groups like Medeski, Martin, & Wood and Galactic. The group's new EP, ALL THE FIXINS, is now officially FOR SALE. Here's what has been said about it so far:
"Watch out for Dave Miller. This guy's got ears, time, chops, tone, and swing--an intelligent, thoughtful musician with a truly open mind. Watch out for Dave Miller..."
--Fareed Haque (Garaj Mahal, Fareed Haque Group, Joe Zawinul, Joe Henderson)
"There's some funky cats out in Dekalb! Outstanding musicianship and a great groove makes this a great band. Stellar saxophone solos, and stellar guitar work. Creative original compositions, and they play the hell out of a Meters tune, too!"
--Jeff Parker (Tortoise, Isotope 217, Branford Marsalis, Brian Blade)
The DMG's members have played at many of Chicago's best venues such as the Double Door, Martyr's, Schuba's, the Nervous Center, Andy's Jazz Club, the US Beer Company, the Velvet Lounge, Buddy Guy's Legends, the Abbey Pub, the Beat Kitchen, and the Elbo Room.
